Our Story
We opened our business December 2003. Coming from a family that has always celebrated the Irish portion of our heritage, an Irish shop seemed a natural fit. And so it has been. We didn't have a lot of retail experience, but we were excited to make this happen and offer quality Irish and Celtic-related products in northeast Wisconsin. Of course, opening a store as retail novices at the height of the holiday shopping season was an interesting experiment! But we made it through, and by the next fall we were starting to feel that our small 300 square foot shop was a little cramped. We learned of an available space in a neighboring building and jumped at the opportunity!
We spent the week of Thanksgiving 2004 painting and outfitting our new space, and by the end of the weekend we had moved all of our inventory and fixtures into the new store. We had lots of help from our kids and some of their friends, and we were most thankful that year for the chance to take a break at the end of the weekend! Since then we have continued to expand and refine both our product offerings and our shop space. We added an extra 500 square feet of adjacent space to our store, using half for more retail area and the other half as our shipping area for the online store.
December 2010 we made another big change. We moved to our present location at 609 George Street, De Pere. We had the opportunity to have a first floor store front location. We closed for Christmas and reopened at our new shop January 4, 2011. Needless to say, it was a busy time for us. We love our new spot and the response from our loyal customers and new customers has been wonderful.
Our store continues to be a family effort, with our daughters helping to both staff the shop and help in buying decisions, and our son serving as de facto webmaster. We are proud and active members of the North American Celtic Trade Association (NACTA), a great organization that has helped us to find new product offerings and to learn more about this great business we're in and the fellowship it provides.
